Both of the Parasol books are now on Storycasting, and DanShaurette has already posted a cast for "Soulless". Gail has 'author' rights, and we expect her to come and cast her own books Real Soon Now. How about Alexia Tarabotti played by Camilla Belle? Yes or No, come and cast it YOUR way.

No problem with that, Gail. I firmly believe (in line with your comment about gentlemanly behavior) that it's the host's responsibility to fix any and all typos.

I think you've nailed it in re: silver box vs. artistic mechanism. We might also add the nuance of solid-state vs. choreographed movement. In both "parties of the first part" we don't see what's happening (cf. "black box"), and thus not only does Clarke's Third Law take away our ability to enjoy it as technology, but we also can't enjoy the movement the way we would a well-done ballet. In that respect a maglev bullet-train, while ever so cool, isn't quite as much fun as the steam-powered Hogwarts Express.

Thanks for the compliment, sorry about all the typos. I just noticed them on the reread. One shouldn't guest blog when tired.

Great post. I like the guest poster idea Tee.

Gail, I loved your book and am looking forward to the sequel. I would agree with everything you said in your guest spot here, but especially with tech guts being sexy. Opening the back of my pocketwatch and watching the clockworks is always a thrill for me. I would love to see some more large steampunk machines. Rube Goldberg meets H.R. Giger type of thing.

Thanks for the visit. Don't be a stranger!
