Flutter…the Next Big Thing! *LOL*

This morning, I completed the ninth chapter of All a Twitter, but I may have to reconsider everything — and I mean, everything — and call up Que Publishing to renegotiate the book we agreed I would write.

This is going to be the next big thing in Social Media, and I want to write the first book on it!

Say hello to “Flutter.”

My editor at Que reads this blog, so let me say I’M JUST KIDDING!!! Seriously. I’m three chapters from wrapping up, and you think I want to do a rewrite from the beginning?!

Been there, done that, got a tee shirt, and I had said tee shirt ripped off me when the publisher tried to stiff me out of the advance.

I am hoping with where I’ve seen this video mentioned on Twitter that it goes viral on an apedemic scale. This is some funny, funny stuff. Consider me the first in line for “Sttr” and a pair of “Flutter Eyes.”

Stranger on a Train III

I know I’m not alone here, but I am hitting a brick wall figuratively…and now I’m considering it literally. Next to the picture of me is the job description of my latest rejection.

Two books in Social Media related fields, a third on the way.

Ten years of teaching experience, including courses in Social Media related fields.

Speaking engagements including the Library of Congress, the New Media Expo, Book Expo America, and coming this summer LIANZA (New Zealand)

Years of experience with audio and video software and hardware.

All this, and I’m blogging from my iPhone on a train…

Yeah…I’m apparently lacking the experience and skills you need, Mr Washingtonian needing a Social Media Manager. Frel you!

A bittersweet end to what was one astounding week. My first professional blog entry went live this week with Apple iPhone Apps and as you saw in the earlier rant LIANZA has booked me for FIVE talks in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand. So while the DC employers dismiss me, the Kiwis are rolling out the red carpet.

Maybe they just dig my accent.

I also found out that I am AHEAD in All a Twitter, so I want to use this weekend to stay ahead of the game. I also got a pat on the back from Wired Pig for using this WordPress iPhone app on what seems to be a really popular segment.

You know what? I dig blogging. I’ve been pretty steamed about the rejection, but sorting through it all, it’s their loss. Those idiots could have hired me, and gotten a return on their investment. Their loss. Not mine.

I’m Tee Morris, and I am hardly down, out, or defeated. I am just warming up in the batter’s circle. Go deep.

I Remember Joe: 2009

joetribute

No matter how crazy the time or the schedules in life get, we make time to remember; and on April 1st, Jack and I are asking that you remember our fallen friend, Joe Murphy.

For those of you new to podcasting, you might have missed the audio wit and always-clever banter of my friend, Joe Murphy. He was (and still is) an amazing guy, his voice now part of the history of such podcasts, as Wingin’ It, Slice of SciFi, The Kick Ass Mystic Ninjas, and the award-winning The Case of the Singing Sword: A Billibub Baddings Mystery. He was taken from us too soon, and on April 1 we remember him.

Please, syndicate this podcast through your feeds, blog about Joe, tell a friend today about Joe Murphy, show your support in an avatar change, and let your subscribers know that you also remember Joe.

Stranger on a Train II

End of a day. End of a week. An end to two weeks of training…

Final Cut Boot Camp
Premiere Level I
Public Speaking
Introduction to Social Media

I an still sick, but the point is I made it. I made it to the end of the week. While I am still booked for three days next week, this was the tough bit. I will have a couple of days to write. I look forward to it.

George Mason turned me down for their Web Manager position, but I didn’t seem to mind as much. Today, with the premiere of the Social Media class, I don’t think I care. No one can take away this success, or the Miracle Mile I just ran over these two weeks.

So yes, I was a good soldier. Fought bravely. Now, I put on some prime audio goodness and get some sleep.

Stranger on a Train I

Trying something new here, maybe the reoccurring rambling from my abnormally long commute to and from work. I downloaded from the iTunes App Store a WordPress app and thought I’d give it a go…

So, here goes blogging from my iPhone.

Today I was put into a situation today that a handful of people could have handled like I did. After discovering at the beginning of a “Public Speaking for Beginners” class that my students were anything but, I had to work out what was going to happen with a group of new students who were also promised a full class…when I had been told this was merely an evaluation. Once again, I had to think fast, come up with a solution, and effectively handle the situation. I did just that.

Where I get a little uptight is when I think about the current job hunt…and I’m told I don’t have enough experience. The market I’m searching in? Social Media.

I have a lot to offer, both as a speaker and as a problem solver. I am talented in a variety of applications, ranging between video and audio editing, to print design. I think fast. I produce results. I’m creative. I’m talented.

What keeps me going? Days like these.

MicroBrewed: A Flashback to the First Meeting

mb-logo

With the update of WordPress, I wanted to test how things are now running. It then dawned on me how long it has been since I posted the “recently” rebooted MicroBrewed. I did promise that Phil and I would return with flashbacks and new episodes, and so I figured I would give the upgrade a shakedown with this, the very first meeting I ever had with Phil!

So how far back does this episode reach?

  • Michael R. Mennenga and Evo Terra were podcasting Wingin’ It!
  • Phil was a newlywed.
  • I was working with the MobilePre USB to record this meeting.
  • Snakes on a Plane was just coming out to the theatres…
  • Many of the people and shows mentioned in this cast are no longer on pod.
  • Twitter didn’t exist.

In this pilot episode (where we didn’t even have a name for our show), we reviewed beers from the Old Dominion Brewing Company. While the Old Dominion Pub has closed down, the brewery is still making some fantastic beers…

….and the Ashburn Pub still uses insanely-small glasses for their drinks.
