If You’re Reading This Blogpost, I’m Down Ten Pounds. #ThanksFitBit

chubby_teeFebruary 4, 2013.

That was the last time I really gave a damn about my health.

What happened? Well, if you read that blogpost, you heard my mea culpa on how I had successfully gained all the weight I had lost back in 2007. While pictures, thanks to Photoshop, can lie; it was the steampunk outfit I attempted to get into at the Emerald City Steampunk Expo that did not lie. This was when I returned to MediFast. I blogged on February 4 how happy I was on my progress. Down twenty pounds. I was thrilled.

Then, a week after that post, I went from thrilled to unemployed.

So what did I discover in 2013? Tee Morris, award-winning author, podcaster, and unbelievable beer snob is a stress eater. And yes, it’s a real thing. And yes, I’m really good at it. [Read more…] about If You’re Reading This Blogpost, I’m Down Ten Pounds. #ThanksFitBit

There and Back Again: My Return to Medifast

IMG_6563It was that awkward moment around Halloween 2012. Maybe you saw the image that went (mildly) viral? My costume was to be an homage to Monty Python, and I had nothing to worry about with it fitting as it was the “one size fits all” variety. I slipped on the base outfit and checked it in the mirror…

Then I turned to one side.

Then to the other.

When I smoothed out the front and my hand went out not down, I knew that a day I dreaded had finally arrived…

…but no, I’ll deal with it later. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as the costume made it look. [Read more…] about There and Back Again: My Return to Medifast

A Steampunk Tweetup in Texas!

With only a few days remaining until FenCon, Pip and I are planning furiously for what is promising to be a really fun weekend of panels, podcasting, and steampunk. We owe a special thanks to Matt Bowerman for being our location scout for our own “kickoff celebration.” If you’re in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area on this Friday at 8 p.m., we are hosting a Texas tweetup — steampunk style — at Spring Creek BBQ.

For non-FenCon attendees, it a chance to hang. For FenCon attendees, the restaurant is just five blocks north of the hotel. Pip has made an event page live on Facebook (please RSVP there), but here are a few extra details…

TIME: Friday, September 23, 8:00 p.m.
ADDRESS: 14941 Midway Road, Addison TX
MENU AND INFO: www.springcreekbarbeque.com

We are also planning to wear our steampunk gear for the tweetup! Ladies, strap into your favorite corsets. Gents, wear your best bowlers (or, if you’re doing the Wild, Weird West, your sharpest ten gallon hat)! It’s time to gear up, chow down, and jump into a good time in Texas! Pip and I hope to see you there!

An Interview on “Being Healthy for Busy People”

I had the pleasure of being Talli van Sunder’s first interview on a show that seems tailor-made for me: Being Healthy for Busy People. This is Talli’s platform to encourage healthy living and good eating habits for people on the go…and this is why it has taken me so long to post it. It’s been a go-go-go kind of weekend.

Still, the interview is worth the wait:

This week we are going to do something different with the show. A few weeks ago on Show #26, I talked about my journey to becoming healthier. That show got a really positive response, so I thought that it would be interesting to all of you if I interviewed a guest occasionally and discussed how they fit being healthy into their busy life.

In this show, I interviewed Tee Morris who is an author, podcaster and an extremely busy person. We discussed some of the challenges Tee faced on his journey to becoming healthier and how he met them.

When they asked me for a show graphic, I found this one and realized just how hard I had worked and how important it is for me to stay healthy. It’s all about determination and drive, and sticking to your plan. And no, it won’t be perfect. I have fallen out of my groove of late, but slowly getting back in there. So if you see me on Twitter and I mark a workout with the hashtag #onourfeet you will know that I’m inviting you all to join me.

Take care of yourselves, be good to your body…and punish it on a treadmill or a pool! :^)

MicroBrewed: The Reboot

After enjoying a slot in Charlie the Beer Guy’s Speaking of Beer, Phil Rossi and I decided to take all this content we’ve been producing for well-on two years and turn it into our own show. Launching the TeeMorris.com Monster Feed is MicroBrewed, two guys who revel in their geekdom and enjoy the micro-brewed beers they drink. Recorded last night from Clyde’s in Loudon County, Virginia, we reboot the podcast within a podcast…and fly on our own with only a pint glass and our rapier wits as our co-pilots…

Heaven help us!

Featured Microbrews

  • Stella Artois
  • Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Concerning Clyde’s. Just take a look at this place…
(click on the images for a better look)

And just so you know what it is we are nomming on during the recording…

Some of the topics we hit:

  • Clyde’s
  • Is Stella Atois really a “microbrew” considering its history?
  • The demise of Dominion
  • What you can expect from Microbrewed?

Thanks for listening, and feel free to leave comments for Phil and myself here. Sláinte!
